College basketball shorts have changed over the years from the tight and short of the 1970’s to the loose, baggy, knee length style of today. But no matter what the fit, wearing them displays your team loyalty and love of the game every time you put them on.

If you’ve been a basketball fan since high school, you probably got a pair of college basketball shorts, as soon as you decided which university you were going to attend. For many, going to college is one of the most memorable times of your life. Not only is it the first time that many experience living away from home, but it is also the opportunity to develop and express what you are passionate about. In addition to getting an education in your chosen major, which is why you attended college in the first place, you also have the freedom to express yourself socially. For some this could be as simple as wearing mis-matched socks every day for four years, while others choose to paint their bodies in their school colors and attend basketball games.

If college basketball is your passion, a more subdued way to show off your support is to wear college basketball shorts. Not only do shorts require much less time to put on in the morning than body paint, but you also don’t have to shower every time you want to change.

I’m sure when Dr James Naismith invented basketball back in 1891, he had no idea that one day millions of young American men and women would want to wear the same type of shorts as the players. Pride in your college and love of your team prevents us from sitting calmly in the stands and applauding a good shot. We want to take our passion outside the arena and let everyone we meet know we are fans.

Aside from passion and loyalty, the best thing about college basketball shorts is that they are really great to play basketball in! If they’re good enough for student athletes, some of who will end up as professionals in the NBA, they sure are good enough for a pick-up or intramural game at the campus athletic center. Who knows, you might even be inspired to make a last second jump shot to win the game.

Whether your passion leads you down Tobacco Road, into Kentucky’s Rupp Arena or Indiana’s Assembly Hall you can celebrate your love of the game with official ACC gear, SEC gear, Big 10 gear , Pac 10 gear or the apparel of your favorite team regardless of what division they play in. All the college team apparel (and basketall shorts) you need can be found here.

Did you know that Micheal Jordan wore his NC Tarheel shorts underneath his Chicago Bulls shorts during every professional game he played, so take a peek at how the greatest basketball player ever, got started.
